Single zero roulette

There are 37 numbers in a standard European Roulette wheel, 0-36, which doesn’t contain a 00(double zero). The single zero Roulette is just a standard in Europe and it does not mean that there would be no double zero Roulette in the European casinos. It’s just that you would have to look for one as most of the casinos there only have single zero roulette wheels.

The numbers on the wheel are arranged in such a way that they are as random as they can be. Except for numbers 5 and 10, there is a number from the series 19 through to 36, next to every number from 1 through to 18. Exactly opposite the zero slot are the numbers 5 and 10. This is where the wheel is split into two halves: one is from 0 to 5 and the other one from 10 to 0.

The odds of any number turning up on a single zero Roulette wheel are 36 to 1 per bet. The casino payouts are however just 35 to 1. So one can see how the casinos make so much profit! The house edge, which is the money a player is expected to lose on every bet to the house, on an average in single zero Roulette is 2.7%. It is half the house edge of American Roulette and thus playing on a single zero Roulette wheel increases your odds of winning.

Certain single zero roulette games offer an option rule: the en prison rule. According to this rule, you will get your bet back without any winnings providing the next spin does make your original bet a win. However, if your numbers/colours do not come up then you would lose your bet. Thus, this rule allows a player to consider the money ‘in prison’ rather than losing it immediately. The en prison rule lowers the house edge in European roulette by another 1.35%. This is a respectably low house edge and thereby your odds of winning the bet are highly improved.

The number sequence, in clockwise direction is 0-32-15-19-4-21-2-25-17-34-6-27-13-36-11-30-8-23- 10-5-24-16-33-1-20-14-31-9-22-18-29-7-28-12-35-3-26

The number pockets are coloured alternatively in red and black. The pocket of number 0 is green in colour.

The numbers in Red are: 1-3-5-7-9-12-14-16-18- 19-21-23-25-27-30-32-34-36

The numbers in Black are: 2-4-6-8-10-11-13-15-17- 20-22-24-26-28-29-31-33-35
