European roulette

Roulette is a gambling game that involves a spinning wheel and a ball. Roulette is a French word and means small wheel. The player has to make a prediction in which of the colored and numbered pockets (1-36) will the roulette ball land on the wheel. European roulette begins when players make their bets and place them on the roulette table. The wheel contains pockets colored in red and black, while zero is colored in green. Players can wager on any of the numbers, even zero, combinations of number or colors. Once all the players have had an opportunity to place their bets, the dealer will spin the wheel and then throw the ball in the opposite direction of the spinning wheel. The ball will drop and the dealer will announce, ‘no more bets’. This means that players can no longer place any further bets or change their current bets.

European roulette is slightly different to the American version of the game. In European roulette, the house advantage is lower than that of American roulette as it only has one zero. Also, European roulette has the en prison rule. According to en prison, if the ball falls into the zero pocket, players are given the opportunity to lose part of their original bet or let it ride until the next round, wherein they may have a chance at winning it back.

Basics of European Roulette
First, select your chips or stakes. There is no denomination of chips in the beginning, except that roulette chips come in different colors. When the player buys in the chips, the denomination will be decided. For instance, if you pay the dealer 100 dollars and you get 20 yellow chips in return, each chip will be deemed worthy of 5 dollars.

In European roulette, there is no extra zero unlike in American roulette. This allows the player to create a better chance at winning when placing a bet. Without the extra zero, players are given one less of an opportunity to make the wrong move. This only increases the odds of the player. Some casinos offering European roulette also offer the En prison rule. This feature or rule is placed in the instance the player makes an even money bet like 1-18/19-36 or red/black, odd/even. If the ball ends up on zero, the bet is frozen. If the next spin makes you win the bet, the previous bet is returned. Some casinos may only return half of the bet.

Also check if the inside bet table is at a minimum and the outside should be at a minimum as well. Players can place an outside bet. These bets offer lower returns. For instance, outside bets can be in the form of red or black. These bets will pay even. Players can also bet on columns and rows of numbers, or odd and even numbers.

Players can make an inside bet. Inside bets include individual numbers, number combinations that remain nearby to one another on the inside of the roulette board. For instance, a 4 corner bet would place the chip in order for it to touch 4 corner numbers. If the chip hits any of these numbers, the player will get a payout of 8 to 1.
